UL Hospitals/Southill Community Health Day 2024

ANPs from ULHospitals attended outreach to the community in Southhill in June. The aim of the visit was to deliver health promotion to the community and share information about our services and how they can be accessed. It is invaluable work in health promotion, illness prevention and chronic disease management. Sharing of their expertise and engaging with the community to support integration is working towards bringing Slaintecare to life.

The visit included sessions on breast check where the ANPs brough a breast mannequin to show the women how to perform self-breast examination. There was a session on COPD, smoking cessation and lung cancer and the ANPs spoke to all about prevention and management of same.

There was also a session which focused on men regarding general cancer awareness and information on prostate cancer and bowel screening and colonoscopy queries.

There are further plans underway for more health promotion visits.

New Nurse Led Pathways Ennis

Two new nurse led pathways have been developed for New Onset Atrial Fibrillation and Congestive Heart Failure.  The pathways reflect the spirit of collaboration between the MAU Ennis and the Integrated Care Hub Ennis to ensure that patients in the region have faster access to cardiology services, diagnostics and expert intervention.  It is anticipated that the pathways will platform greater links and expansion of innovations to enhance patient services in the future.
