Consultant Led Respiratory Clinic Ennis OPD

The first Ennis OPD consultant led respiratory clinic took place on Friday 12th April.

This was made possible by all the disciplines working together to get this valuable service up and running. Carmel McInerney, who has run a respiratory service in collaboration with UHL consultants for years, is delighted to expand these services to Ennis. Providing specialised care locally reduces travel time for patients, showing our commitment to improving services.

This clinic is a positive development for both staff and patients, reflecting our dedication to top-quality care in Co. Clare and beyond.


 



2024 National Inpatient Experience Survey

This year’s National Inpatient  Experience Survey begins on the Wednesday, 1st of May and runs for the whole month.



Please display promotional materials from 1st of May and promote the survey with patients and families to maximise participation.

 

If you are involved in discharging patients, please make sure they are provided with discharge packs when they are discharged.

Croom Hospital Photography Competition

UL Hospitals Group Photography Competition took place throughout February, focusing on the theme of Cultural Diversity; Croom Hospital held a separate competition as there was such a huge response. Some great entries were received. Congratulations to all winners.

EID Celebrations at St John’s Hospital 

Staff at St John's Hospital enjoyed a festive Eid celebration with a lunch prepared by the Catering Team and Health Care Assistant Naziah.

Day Cases ULHG 2023 v 2024

See below Day Case numbers for UL Hospitals Group for the first 3 months of 2024 v 2023. Despite the challenges being experienced with increased levels of Unscheduled Care this year, we have been able to maintain scheduled care performance on par with last year.




 



Formal Academic Sponsorships

Applications for Academic programmes 24/25 funding are now open. Deadline for submissions is 5pm on June 21, 2024. Late & incomplete applications will be returned. Funding will be allocated for the below :



•Application form available on the L&D SharePoint site.
•Screening and interview process will be required.
•Course dates may not be available prior to the deadline, however academic course content usually remains the same as previous years.
•Stand-alone modules of study are not covered under this initiative.
•Retrospective applications require CEO approval.

The Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Plan 2023 – 2027 “Relationship Centred Care” was launched on April 17th.

The Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Plan outlines our commitment to excellent relationship centred care, professional growth, innovation and leadership. Promoting Careers in Nursing & Midwifery Event

Staff from across the Mid West healthcare sector empowering the next generation of nurses and midwives at the Promoting Nursing and Midwifery Showcase Event at CERC UHL on April 19th, 2024.




 



Mid-West Innovation in Healthcare Award

Congratulations to Geraldine Crilly & Pauline Chapman, Clinical Placement Coordinators, Nursing Practice Development Unit, UHL who have been named as the recipients of the Mid West Innovation in Healthcare Award.



Geraldine Crilly & Pauline Chapman, Clinical Placement Coordinators, Nursing Practice Development Unit, University Hospital Limerick being presented the Winner Award by Professor Colette Cowan, CEO UL Hospitals Group.

Their project “Great Minds Don’t Think Alike” an initiative to prepare preceptors to support neurodiverse nursing students on clinical placement, saw off 24 other entrants to win the €3,000 HSE Spark Innovation funding and support towards implementation.

This is the inaugural Mid West Innovation in Healthcare Initiative for HSE & UL staff, entrants from across the Mid West pitched for support and funding to bring their innovative ideas to reality.
