First National End of Life Survey Results

This survey is part of the National Care Experience Programme, a partnership between HIQA, HSE and  Department of Health. The Irish Hospice Foundation supported the development of the survey.

The survey findings show

•Most people feel their loved ones receive very good end-of-life care in Ireland, but areas for improvement remain.
•3 out of 4 rated the care that their relative/friend received as ‘very good’, 15% rated it as ‘good’ while 1 in 10 said rates it as ‘fair to poor’ care.

Areas highlighted for improvement include the continuity, availability, responsiveness and timeliness of care and support for emotional needs.

The results of the survey can be found here

The HSE response to the results can be found here
