New HSE Mid-West Regional Executive Officer to take up role from next Monday.

HSE CEO announces Sandra Broderick as first of six new HSE leaders.

The Chief Executive of the HSE Mr Bernard Gloster has appointed Ms Sandra Broderick to take up the new role as  Regional Executive Officer of the new HSE Mid-West health region from Monday next. She emerged as the preferred candidate for the Mid West in the recent recruitment process to fill the six regional leadership posts. The other five successful candidates will be announced shortly.


 


UL Hospitals Group Director of Human Resources

Welcome Ms Gwen Ryan, Director of Human Resources.

A native of Limerick City, Gwen joins us from South/ South West Hospital Group where she held the position of Hospital Group HR Director since 2021. Prior to SSWHG, Gwen has held a number of HR roles across National, Acute and Community Services in the HSE.  Gwen previously held the role of Interim Assistant National Director HR Acute Operations, General Manager HR Acute Operations and HR Business Manager Mid-West Community Healthcare. Prior to joining the HSE Gwen has worked in a variety of roles across the public, voluntary and private sector.

Gwen holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Strategic HR Management (UCC) a Diploma in Employment Law (Kings Inns) in addition to an MA in Peace & Development Studies (UL)  and a BA in European Studies (UL).




 


Healthcare Audit Conference: Making the change and sustaining the change through Audit

The Annual ULHG Healthcare Audit Conference will take place on Thursday 23rd May 2024, 8.30am to 5pm in the CERC.

The Healthcare Audit Conference entitled “Changing and Sustaining the Change through Audit” will bring together hospital staff, with experts in the fields of Audit, Change Management and Data. We will share learning, generate debate on how we can support and learn from each other. Working together to Improve care and outcomes for those using our service. We welcome abstracts for clinical and non-clinical audits.

Abstract Submission and Registration will open in the next week of so and abstract submission will close at COB 21st April 2024. If you have any queries contact Audit.ULHG@hse.ie.




 


Change to booking system for People Moving and Handling and Inanimate Handling from 1st January 2024

The training schedule for Manual and People Handling for Quarter 1, 2024 is now available to view on the iHUB.

You must complete the e-learning module on HSeLanD for manual handling before attending either training course. Once this is complete, you can book into a training course.

To book into a practical training course from 1st January 2024:

1.log on to HSeLanD
2.Search “ULHG-Manual Handling”
3.Click on module either ULHG-Manual Handling or ULHG-People Handling 
4.select session of choice & click Enrol

This is a change in process will benefit staff and you will be able to access your cert on HSeLanD and receive a reminder of expiration two months in advance and a further reminder 2 weeks prior expiry.  If you do not have a HSE email address, use your personal email address and access HSeLanD via same.

 It is important to mention the following key points:

•Personal Packs of alcohol based hand gel are available for use for staff.
•Gloves must be worn appropriately, required for contact with blood, body fluids, secretions, excretions ONLY.
•The decontamination of communal equipment is vital.
•Ensure that disinfectant wipes are available at communal computer points.
•No open sweets, biscuits tins at stations etc.
•Sitting on patients beds discouraged.
•Discard open fruit/food on patient lockers in outbreak wards
