Surgical assessment unit, theatre, POCU UHL

I received an upsetting diagnosis in December 2022. However, thanks to Dr Mark Skehan and Mr Kevin Hickey, I was promptly assessed, operated on and treated in UHL.

The professionalism and sensitivity I was met with in the surgical assessment unit was exemplary. The theatre staff were reassuring and put me at ease. I cannot speak highly enough about POCU nurse manager Mags and her excellent staff who went beyond the call of duty to meet my care needs.

My admission was during a time when UHL was making headlines for the wrong reasons. This was in complete contrast to the nature of the care I received from each member of staff I met throughout my admission who all showed a high level of clinical expertise coupled with empathy to the situation in hand.

My stay in UHL was a much more positive experience thanks to the excellent staff and I will be eternally grateful to each and everyone of them. Kindest regards

UHL

I had a stroke in January 2022 and I have to say care I received in U.l Limerick was second to none by the team in the stroke unit.

CCU UHL

I recently spent 2 days in CCU and was very lucky to be under Caroline’s care. She was kind, caring, hard working and very good at her job. Caroline’s professionalism was exceptional, despite being clearly very busy. I felt confident in her her abilities and that trust certainly helped to keep me at ease! In a world where we mostly only make complaints I would like to compliment and thank Caroline. She is a great attribute to UHL.

ED UHL

My mum died on the 11th  March in the CDU section of the emergency department in UHL Dooradoyle.

There were two extraordinary healthcare assistants there who stood out to us as a family for their compassion, kindness and support. One lady was called Lynda and another lady with glasses but we didn't get her name.

They looked after us so well when mum was dying and died that when I left the ED that afternoon I knew mum was in good kind hands and that they would prepare her and look after for transport to the mortuary. They both hugged me when mum passed and were so compassionate and kind.

I live abroad and can no longer go in but if it is possible to extend our gratitude to them. Small actions ..the hugs..the cups of tea...checking in on us and mum...they spoke a thousand words to us and meant the world to us.

If it is possible for you to pass this message on I would be so grateful.
