Emergency Department, Ward 1D

Had sever abdominal pain, went to X doc was on the ball and sent me to A&E in Limerick. Everyone there were brilliant ended up in emergency surgery. The surgery staff were excellent explained everything to me. The nursing staff in 1D were so good to me. The surgeon professor Coffey was excellent he explained everything to me in simple language so that I would understand instead of the usual 'doctor speak'. There was another surgeon on call the day before who was also excellent he was very clear on what would be done went so far as to draw what would happen so that I would understand. Regarding Covid...felt very safe the staff were very careful, changing PPE using sanitizer.

Limerick Racecourse Vaccination Centre

I just wanted to drop a note to say a huge thank you for the work that the HSE staff have done in vaccinating the public. I attended Limerick Racecourse today for my second vaccine and the staff were superb. My vaccinator and the support staff were amazing. I hate needles and they both put me at my ease. They were welcoming and upbeat and it was a very pleasant experience. Thank you for all that you are doing - really really appreciate it. I know it cant be easy but you are doing a great job! Best Regards, Lesley

Ear Nose and  Throat

My son who has autism had an appointment with the ENT team under Dr Steven Ryan. The doctor who seen James, I didn’t manage to get his name, was brilliant as were the nurses Catherine was one of them. The doctor took a lot of time out of his day to clean James very waxy ears which were giving him a lot of trouble and hearing issues. He had to work very carefully on James as James would get upset. He was excellent as were both nurses in attendance. Dr Steven Ryan’s team have been super over the years! A credit, would be good if other teams took a leaf out there book

University Hospital Limerick

I would like to praise the level of care I received from Limerick Maternity Hospital while pregnant in 2020. From the very first ultrasound scan, the level of care I received from all staff working there from nurses, to consultants, to doctors to administrative staff was absolutely fantastic! From 28 weeks I was reviewed every 2 weeks by my consultant Dr. Naro and her team and had scans each visit due to having a small abnormality and was advised to expect to go into labour earlier than my due date. When i went into labour 15 days early on Christmas day, I felt ready, my bags were packed and I wasn't panicking as I had been advised this would more than likely happen! At the time, I was in isolation due to being a close contact for covid and so I stayed in my own room in the hospital.. although this should have felt lonely, it didn't at all as each person who came into the room had a chat for me. I even still managed to have a gorgeous 3 course meal including Turkey and Ham which was amazing! I don't want to mention names as there are genuinely too many staff to praise but I will mention Amy who was my midwife for the majority of my labour from 11pm until 8am when her shift finished. Amy made me feel totally at ease and she was just so calming and chatty all night long, although she missed the birth, she came into me the following evening before her shift to find out how I got on and what I had which was so lovely to know that she was thinking of me ! Penny even had to spend a night in NICU for phototherapy and although I wasn't allowed in to see her I was given 3 hourly updates on how she was doing as my milk was being dropped down 3 hourly. This was particularly hard but knowing that she was in the best hands made it all the better. Limerick is criticised too often on the media and I think its about time that credit was given where it was more than deserved.. From all the staff at the Maternity Hospital Limerick, clinical staff, administration staff, cleaners, kitchen staff etc from the bottom of my heart thank you all so much for all you did for me and my daughter Penny in hospital! The 6 days that we stayed in there we received nothing but the best of care! Penny is now almost 8 months old and is thriving thanks to you all. I look forward to seeing you all again in the future !

Sarah
