Transition to Practice Programme 2023
A new development programme has been rolled out to support graduates through the transition from their internship student nurse placements to their role as Registered Nurse.
The New Graduate General Nurse Programme has been offered to those who graduated from the BSc Nursing (General) Programme in October 2023.
The programme is designed to hone their clinical competence and confidence as they progress along Benner’s Stages of Clinical Competence from Novice to Clinical Expert (Benner 1982).
The programme will endorse clinical excellence in a supportive learning environment through a structured induction, targeted education sessions and a nationally endorsed mentorship programme.

Participants can choose either a direct entry to one area or a rotational pathway with access to study days which included:

Save the Date Nursing and Midwifery Research and Innovation Conference
The Nursing and Midwifery Research and Innovation Conference will take place on 15th May 2024.
This is the 9th year of the conference which is run in partnership with Nursing and Midwifery Acute services ULHG, Mid West Community Healthcare, CNME HSE Mid West (LCNT).

Location: CERC Auditorium UHL
The conference provides an excellent opportunity to showcase nursing and midwifery research and innovation being carried out across the Mid West.
Resuscitation of Nursing 9s
Nursing 9s is an opportunity to present topics of interest to nursing colleagues, practice presentation skills and learn about new nursing initiatives within ULHG.
Nursing 9s allows for an open discussion forum for all nurses within the hospital group to present on topics in which they have an interest. Each presentation is 9 minutes and uses 9 slides.
