National Frailty Education Programme

The National Frailty Education Programme (NFEP) was developed in collaboration with the HSE, the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland , National Acute Medicine /National Emergency Medicine Clinical Programmes, in partnership with The Longitudinal Study on Ageing (TILDA) and supported by the Office of the Nursing & Midwifery Service.
The aim of the programme is to provide healthcare professionals with an enhanced understanding of frailty and comprehensive geriatric assessment, thereby
ensuring optimal health outcomes for older adults living with frailty A group of facilitators across UL Hospitals Group and CH03 are delivering a one
day programme on:

Nursing Cohort 2021 Clinical Placement

We welcomed back BSc. Nursing (General) Cohort 2021 to clinical placement recently. 73 students attended induction in
the CERC Auditorium. A number of n ew clinical placements sites have been added since these students were previously on
placement. These areas include :


•UHL Ward 8D, Acute Medical Assessment Unit, Surgical Assessment Unit, Acute Fracture Unit
•Ennis Hospital Medical Assessment Unit
•Croom Surgical Day Ward
•Bon Secours Hospital Theatres

 



Learning Outcomes have been updated specific to allocated placement sites and level of learning. We are delighted that the eBNF is available to all students to
support their learning in relation to medication management . The CPC’s, SALO’S and Nurse Practice Development Team support students with all aspects of
clinical placement. This includes achievement of competency and any other supports they may need.
