Promoting Nursing and Midwifery Showcase

The next generation of Nurses and Midwives were treated to a very informative morning on the 19th of April 2024 in the CERC Building, UHL.

This was an  inaugural event aimed to give secondary students a snapshot of the role of the Nurse and Midwife and gain an insight into their roles as healthcare professionals.

133 Secondary School Students from the Mid-West Region and beyond attended the showcase and got the opportunity to chat with nurses and midwives from clinical settings and various specialities.

Nurses and Midwives set up stands and spoke to the students about their careers and roles in various healthcare settings.

Students voted for the “Best Stand” award, won by the Intensive Care Unit, Congratulations!

Excellent feedback was received on the day with 100% indicating it helped them to understand the role of the Nurse or Midwife.

Pain Management Centre Croom

Congratulations to the staff of the Pain Management Centre, Croom Orthopaedic Hospital on winning an Irish Healthcare Centre Award in the category of Healthcare Initiative for a General Hospital. Since opening in December 2021, the Pain Management Centre has continually evolved to meet the needs of the service users. The introduction of leaner processes and new services has improved efficiency and patient care. With wait times significantly reduced, the department have been introducing multidisciplinary self-management based approaches with the objective of reducing long term reliance on healthcare services.
