LIU Ennis

I attended the LIU in Ennis recently with my daughter. The Receptionist, the Triage Nurse, Nurse Practitioners and Radiographer were all so kind and done a great job. The LIU provides an excellent service. Thank you to all the staff.

ED UHL

In the past year, my family and I have had the misfortune of needing your services three times. Last year my 12 year old son collapsed and was rushed via ambulance with suspected meningitis or sepsis. He was in a very serious state and entered A&E through the resuscitation room. Following a week’s stay he made a full recovery under the supervision of Dr Rachel Power. From the moment we arrived at the hospital the care was immense- urgent, measured, thorough, extensive… with transfer to HDU and later to the Sunshine ward.

I will be eternally grateful.. In March my 10 year old attended A&E following on from GP consultation with suspected appendicitis. Once again her treatment and eventual surgery was fantastic under Mr Colin Taylor and all in the Sunshine Ward.

Lastly I myself entered A & É on Last Saturday evening - whilst cleaning the patio - some of the chemical splashed into my eyes. Following extensive irrigation at home my eyes were still burning. I was triaged and attended to immediately and had 3 litres of saline in each eye to flush and clean out the acid. At 8:30pm on a Saturday night I attended the on call ophthalmologist- I couldn’t believe one was on call at this time. I can’t identify and name any staff as my eyes were burning - but they were amazing. For all the bad press Limerick UHL receives I couldn’t praise it highly enough - the staff, the procedures and the quality of care. Thank you all…

Physiotherapy UHL

12 weeks after my cardiac bypass surgery I attended 12 cardio rehab sessions over 6 weeks in the gym at the Physiotherapy Department in University Hospital Limerick. The sessions were expertly ran by a team from the Physiotherapy Dept. I was made comfortable in the environment, all the exercises were explained and I was encouraged to complete them while been monitored by the team. These sessions gave me the courage and confidence to increase my exercise regime and continue it afterwards. It was wonderful to be able attend these sessions close to home and the professionalism and attention to detail of all the staff was exemplary.

7B UHL

I want sincerely thank each member of staff that cared for me during my 7 night stay in ward 7B. The nurses and health care assistants were absolutely phenomenal. Mags, Norina, Veena, Katie, Mary, Trisha, Mary, Yana-Belle and Marie (I would say I’m forgetting a couple) are absolutely amazing at their jobs. They are so kind, considerate and empathetic.

They reassured me every day and ensured my medical and emotional needs were cared for to the utmost standard. If every ward in UHL was rang as well as 7B there would be a lot less problems in the hospital. It’s clear to see they could do with additional staff at times to alleviate the pressure in such a demanding ward where patients are recovering post operatively from major surgery and higher management should consider allocating resources accordingly. I cannot thank the staff in Ward 7B enough for their amazing care.
