Virtual Shop in Nenagh Hospital
We are delighted to announce that we have now launched a Virtual Shop for patients in Nenagh Hospital.
The service enables patients, family and friends to order items such as newspapers, toiletries, confectionery, cold drinks & more by phone or text. Items are then delivered by the shop to wards in the hospital. Customers can pay by cash or over the phone by card.

NCHD Conference – call for abstracts
The 2024 NCHD Conference will be held on Thursday 16th May 2024 in the Clinical Education & Research Centre in University Hospital Limerick.
All NCHDs are invited to submit Research, Audit & Quality Improvement abstracts from their training year 2023/2024 at UL Hospitals Group. For queries contact

National No Smoking Day
On National No Smoking Day (14th Feb), the ULHG Health and Wellbeing team and colleagues were at UHL to offer support and advice to staff and the public to Quit Smoking.
There was great engagement from staff, patients and visitors on the day.
Thank you to all staff who completed the Tobacco Free Campus survey. We had over 100 responses and welcome further feedback. You can have your say by completing the survey here.

The Scheme is now open to new applications, and will remain open until 30th September 2024*.

HSE Performance Reports
The HSE will now be publishing key performance indicators (KPIs) on their website. The information will provide greater transparency on the positive improvements in the health system, specifically in Urgent & Emergency Care and Waiting Lists.
The published reports will include hospital activity, urgent and emergency care performance and waiting list performance.
The HSE is also introducing a service on their website that shows estimated average hospital waiting times for scheduled care by specialty and hospital.
The reports will be available on a regular basis, with daily, weekly, and monthly frequency depending on the report type.
ISBAR (Deteriorating Patient)
The tool, known as the ISBAR (Deteriorating Patient) sticker, is used when a patient's condition is worsening and needs to be escalated.
It helps us communicate important information about a patient's condition.

Spark Impact - New Initiative
The Spark Innovation Programme is delighted to introduce Spark Impact, an initiative designed to promote innovation among frontline staff.
This initiative offers funding from €5,000 to €90,000.
You can apply for funding to implement novel initiatives that will enhance the experience of health service users and providers. These projects will ideally be collaborative, scalable and transferable. Visit the website for more information on why and how to apply.
Spark Impact is now accepting applications through the online portal until the closing date of Friday 22nd March 2024.
New Strategy Boards
Following the launch of the UL Hospitals Group Strategic Plan 2023-2027, we are delighted to share that new strategy boards are now on display.
The boards provide an overview of the plan, its priorities and enablers, and can be found in corridors and meeting rooms around our sites.

Donation to Mid West Simon Community
Thanks to the kind-heartedness of our staff at the Christmas Dinner, Santa Dash, and Christmas Markets, the organising teams successfully raised over €1000 for our charity partners, Mid West Simon Community.
The Mid West Simon Community extend their heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved in the coordination of these events, particularly the Sports and Social Club, the Health and Wellbeing Team and the Operational Services Directorate. Special recognition is also warranted for the support provided by the Catering team in UHL.

Rainbow Badge initiative Children’s Ark
Staff in the Children’s Ark are promoting a culture of inclusivity by wearing the HSE Rainbow Badge.

The Rainbow Badge is a simple visual symbol identifying its wearer as someone an LGBTQI+ person can feel comfortable talking to about issues relating to sexuality and gender identity.
It shows that the wearer is there to listen without judgement and signpost to further supports if needed. The Children’s Ark joins healthcare facilities across the country by taking part in this initiative.
