World Stop Pressure Ulcer Day

On the 16th November the Tissue viability team held an information stand in UHL to highlight pressure ulcer prevention. The Tissue Viability team raised awareness on pressure ulcer prevention and highlighted the ASSKING bundle which was introduced across UL Hospitals Group in June.

Nurses and Midwives Graduation Ceremony

Recently, newly qualified nurses and midwives gathered for a special event to mark their graduation. At the event, they received recognition badges for  their valuable contributions to UL Hospitals Group during their placement.

Additionally, the graduates had the opportunity to vote for the preceptors of the year, with Costel Stefan and Helena Hogan  being recognized for their exceptional support.

Best wishes to all the graduates as they embark on their careers as Nurses and Midwives.




 



16 Days of Action

UL Hospitals Group joined forces with An Garda Siochana, Adapt House, Clare Haven and Ascend Services as part of the annual campaign 16 Days Opposing Violence Against Women from 25th Nov to 10th Dec. These 16 days provide a space to remember those who have lost their lives to violence but also highlight the ongoing work needed to prevent future tragedies.

The ULHG Medical Social Work Team hosted a 16 Days of Action Opposing Violence against Women & Children event in the CERC on the 28th November.

Multicultural Day UL Hospitals Group 

Multicultural Day was celebrated on all sites recently with a focus on global cuisine. It was a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended. UL Upskilling Information Session

University of Limerick are hosting upskilling information sessions in University Hospital Limerick & Nenagh Hospital in December.

•University Hospital Limerick: OPD Corridor, December 5th from 9.30am – 2pm.
•Nenagh Hospital: Opposite Cardiac Dept, December 6th from 9.30am – 2pm.

 These sessions will feature key staff from Professional Education where you can learn more about part-time study options and to address any questions you may have.

World Diabetes Day 2023

To mark World Diabetes Day on the 14th December, the Diabetes team hosted an information stand in UHL. This years theme focused on Access to Diabetes care. The team carried out blood glucose tests on over 100 visitors and staff.

1 in 10 adults worldwide have diabetes. Over 90% have type 2 diabetes. Close to half are not yet diagnosed. Know your risk, know your response.

All HSE employees must adhere to the confidentially agreements signed as part of their employment contracts. All personal information you have access to in your role within the HSE is strictly confidential.

Important reminder:

•Never access personal data of another person, patient or staff member unless you are authorised and have a valid business need to do so
•No unauthorised discussion or disclosure of personal information is permitted
•Viewing of personal health information on ULHG electronic systems without a valid business need is considered a data breach and should be reported to IGO.ULHG@HSE.ie

Last week the Infection Prevention and Control Team held the second train the trainer programme this year and trained 15 staff from across ULHG to become hand hygiene trainers.

 



This is a national training programme. These newly qualified trainers will now be available for all healthcare workers to provide training at ward level, within directorates and individual teams.

National Waiting List Action Plan 2023

 



We have achieved five of the national waiting list targets and will achieve the sixth in December. 

UL Hospitals Group is the only hospital group currently achieving five out of six of the national targets.
