Reminder: COVID-19 Symptomatic HCWs – Stay at Home

Regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status, symptomatic healthcare workers (HCWs) should not be at work. It is particularly important at a time when Covid-19 infections are increasing in the community that staff with symptoms stay at home.

If HCWs have symptoms of illness, they should inform their line manager and not attend work. A Covid-19 antigen test should be performed by the HCW. If symptoms occur during the HCW’s shift, a PCR Covid swab should be taken and the HCW sent home.

Staff with any symptoms of respiratory tract infection should not attend for work until 48 hours after symptoms have mostly or fully resolved.

Visit the HSE website for more information.
