 Outpatients Eye Clinic - 2B

I am a patient of Mr Tuwir’s for the past number of years, throughout my visits to the outpatients Eye clinic, the eye ward and eye theatre every staff member has been so caring and reassuring.

About 6 months ago I began to lose the remaining vision I had in my left eye and by November I could not see a shadow , on a visit to Mr Tuwir in December he opted to remove my cataract despite their being some risks due to my advanced glaucoma and nerve damage with the minimal chance of some light being returned to my eye. In Feb 2022 I got my cataract surgery and have regained vision in my left eye. Thanks to Mr Tuwir and his team and their expertise and knowledge as surgeons I have been given a new lease of life as I am also a CKD5 patient and was awaiting to go on the transplant list which I was not going to avail of if my vision did not return.  I can now see my grandchildren, TV, my phone, walk unaided around my house.

I would like to show my gratitude to Mr Tuwir and all his team, the nurses in 2b day cases, theatre preop, the hygiene staff Jessica and Mags who always have the chat and are so polite and courteous to all the patients while we are waiting to go into the eye theatre and the porter Kevin.

Not enough praise is given for the work these staff of all grades as mentioned  do in the hospital and the successful stories from patients regarding their treatment does not get recognised for the surgeons/consultants involved.

I would also like to thank Justyna for her help In organising appointments around my dialysis and always being so helpful.

Regards

MRI UHL - Paediatrics

My daughter was extremely anxious about an MRI. I had to contact the playroom for Kris to come down. I don't think my daughter would have gone through the MRI if Kris wasn't there. The playroom staff are brilliant for the kids and it would be great if more qualified therapist were available to help children with ongoing health needs. Over the past few years we would be lost without Kris and her team.

ED UHL

Hi I would like to inform ye of 2 staff members in ED . Linda Mcmarlow & Susan Griffin. Both these amazing ladies go over & beyond for patients & they have done so this week for my uncle Michael.

If Ye Give Awards Or Acknowledgements To Staff I Really Suggest Ye Praise These Ladies For There Hard Hard Work.

I Don’t Normally Do Things Like This But To See My Uncle Smile & Feel That Bit More Comfortable In A Terrible & Frightening Situation For Him Really Is The Best Thing In The World.

Thank Ye Both So So Much Linda & Susan.

Virtual Shop UHL

A friend of mine was in hospital with her son a few weeks ago....they had to stay overnight unexpectedly. As a treat for her and her son I got a few bits delivered from the shop. Cath and her team were a pleasure to deal with friends son felt delighted and very special with his delivery...this was late in the evening....and nothing was a problem. Great service to have in the hospital at a very stressful time.

My daughter was admitted by ambulance to a and e yesterday afternoon . She is a student and only 19 i was extremely worried as i was over 2 hours away, i got speaking to a lovely ward clerk last night at 10pm in the AMU who even though they were extremely busy , was so understanding and courteous , she put my mind at ease and even rang me back to reassure me once my daughter came up to the amu from accident and emergency . I didnt get her name unfortunately but would like to say thank you so much , kindness and compassion means so much when a family member is ill

UMHL Colposcopy Service

Staff in the unit were excellent, they had a way of making an unpleasant procedure very bearable. I was made to feel as comfortable as possible, and everything was well explained during the procedure. Thank you

Virtual Shop UHL

Just a note to acknowledge Cath and Staff who provide an excellent daily service to the wards. It’s important to acknowledge how pleasant and friendly all the staff are and so easy to deal with , nothing is ever an issue. I am in retail myself and cannot believe how they go above and beyond for every single person. They are a pleasure to deal with and ye should be proud to have them as part of the team in UHL. I would have them part of my team any day !

UMHL

Just want to praise the compassion of the staff of the hospital from the day we found out our baby had no heartbeat right up until I had an ERPC. I was expecting to be in a ward with other women in labour, bringing babies home or waiting with pregnant women, when I was not going to be bringing any baby home. I was wrong, and with other women who I presume were going through similar. This made it so much easier. I know this isn't easy in a hospital where the logistics just may not work out to accommodate everyone. All the nurses and doctors were hugely understanding, sympathetic, supportive and so helpful from our first scan, to our follow up scan to the day of procedure! I found it hard to keep it together emotionally but was always made feel that this was ok. This is vital for women going through the awful situation of a miscarriage! I'm very grateful my husband could come to ward too and walk with me to the operating theatre. So thank you to all at maternity hospital limerick !!! I hope next time Im attending, it is in happier and more joyful circumstances!
